Why Markpilot

Why file your EU trademark with Markpilot instead of a traditional law firm

The same protection, one EUIPO filing valid in all 27 EU countries, without the billable hours, the jargon or the wait. Here’s how the two really compare.

Markpilot
  • One flat price, EUIPO fees included

From €1,060 all-in. Our service fee is fixed no matter how many classes you file. The EUIPO fees rise with each extra class, but we pay them on your behalf.

  • Filed in minutes, not weeks

Answer a few simple questions and our legal partner files with the EUIPO.

  • Plain language, fixed cost

No billable hours, no legalese. You see exactly what you're paying before anything is filed.

  • Fully online, on your schedule

No appointments, no retainers, no office visits.

  • Protection that doesn't stop at registration

We watch your brand and alert you as soon as a similar mark is filed, so you can act in time. Included, not billed extra.

Traditional law firm

  • Hourly billing, EUIPO fees extra

Typically €1,700–€2,500 in fees, and you handle paying the EUIPO fees yourself on top of it.

  • Built around the firm, not you

Retainers and hourly rates designed around the firm and its partners, not around you.

  • Uncertain cost and timing

With billable hours, you rarely know the total until the work (and the invoice) is done, and it can drag on for weeks.

  • Appointments and paperwork

Scheduling calls, signing engagement letters and chasing emails before anything actually moves.

  • No follow-up after registration

Ongoing monitoring for copycats is usually a separate engagement, and another bill.

Law-firm figures are typical EU market ranges for an EU trademark filing; actual quotes vary by firm and case.

It’s the official way to protect your brand name, logo or slogan and make it legally yours. Once it’s registered, your brand is on public record, so other businesses can’t start trading under something confusingly close to it. One registration covers you in all 27 EU countries.

Until you register, your brand is yours in practice but not in law. Registering makes it official: nobody else can use your name, logo or slogan in your line of business, and if someone tries, you can legally oppose it.

Above all, it lets you focus on building your business with peace of mind. No more wondering whether a competitor could take the name you’ve built, or whether you’ll have to rebrand two years in.

The EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) is the official body that registers trademarks valid across all 27 EU countries. It charges an official fee per class of goods and services:

1st classincluded in the base application€850
2nd classadded to your application+€50
3rd class onwardsper additional class+€150

These fees go directly and entirely to the EUIPO, with no markup from us. Our service fee is separate, transparent, and stays the same however many classes you file.

Markpilot prepares your entire filing in minutes. Our legal partner then handles the final step: submitting it to the EUIPO. That makes things simpler for you, and means you already have legal representation in place (if you choose to use it) should any issue arise. All of this is included in our service fee, with nothing extra to pay.

Occasionally, our initial analysis flags a possible issue, such as a similar trademark already on the register. When that happens, we tell you openly. At that point you can add a 25-minute second opinion with our legal partner for a fixed fee of €60, or go ahead with your filing as planned. It’s entirely optional, with no retainer or hourly billing.

Simplicity, first of all. One registration covers you in all 27 EU countries. Then cost: as soon as you plan to do business in two or three countries, the EUIPO route works out cheaper than filing with each national office.

It also lets you grow without worrying about it. Expand into Germany, Spain or the Netherlands and you’re already protected, with nothing new to file. Again, peace of mind.

You can complete your application in minutes. From there the EUIPO reviews it and publishes it for a three-month opposition window. If no one objects, your mark is typically registered in around 4–5 months, and your protection runs from your filing date, not your registration date.

An EU trademark is valid for 10 years from your filing date and can be renewed every 10 years, indefinitely. As long as you renew and keep using it, your protection never has to end.
